Jon Brantingham is an emerging film composer living in Thousand Oaks, CA. He is a recent graduate of the UCLA Extension Film Scoring Program, and has experience scoring short films in many different genres.
Jon comes to film scoring with an extensive background in performance and composition. He began composing at the age of 12, and has played trumpet for over 20 years. He was selected to be the Reagan Library Bugler for the 10th Anniversary of President Reagan’s Memorial Service.
He lived in Durban, South Africa from 1996-2000, and then in Guildford, England from 2000-2001. In 2001, he came back to America to attend Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he studied music theory and history.
After graduating, he spent 7 years in the U.S. Army as an Officer and Scout Helicopter Pilot, flying OH-58D Kiowa Warriors and completed a tour in Iraq. In 2012, he returned to California to pursue film scoring.
Jon has been married since 2009 to his wife, Cynthia, and has two sons, Miles and Matthew, and a daughter, Violet, on the way.
